It's all the same book -- color variance in various shots is because half were taken with flash and half without.

This lovely little mess is my first foray into "real" leatherwork, so I pretty much made the techniques up as I went along. I treated the leather with neatsfoot oil compound along the places where it needs to be flexible, then made a beeswax finish for the rest. The final look of it is pretty much what I was trying to get it to do. Decided to not even attempt any kind of fancy tooling on it, because with my current skill level it would likely have done nothing more than ruining the entire thing.

It's unique and original and all that, but also probably strongly inspired by the work of and . Enviously admiring their mad skill at steampunk stuff was a major factor in my decision to even attempt this project
